The 2012 Great Expectations was directed by Mike Newell. I've watched a couple of adaptations of Great Expectations and this one is by far the best in my opinion. What I enjoyed about this portray of the book was that it stayed quite true to the book, well more than the other films I've watched. I enjoyed the Gothic Horror feeling throughout the film, it gave the Audience a true view of that era which can be seen in harsh realities of London.

Miss Havisham was played by Helena Bonham Carter, in my opinion this was the best decision. She captured Miss Havisham brilliantly throughout the film and was able to realistically portray all of the emotions Dickens describes in the book. I liked how they didn't choose an older actress because I think from the book we get the idea that Miss Havisham is quite old. I liked how Helena Bonham Carter brought her own style into the film which is that she is very eccentric and we see this is many other the films she's played in.
